4 Exercises that Are Anything But Boring

One of the most common excuses I hear when talking about diets for men is people saying “but exercise is boring.” Well, I’ll admit this… SOME exercise is boring, but it’s really only as exciting as you make it. Sure jogging on a treadmill or riding a recumbent bike for an hour may not be real exciting, but here are 10 exercises that I’m sure you won’t find boring. Heck, most of you probably don’t even think of it as exercise!

1. Play basketball. When I was younger I used to play basketball almost every day down at the local YMCA. I used to run for hours and sweat off all the junk food that I used to eat… no wonder I used to be thin! Playing basketball is great cardio and involves a variety of exercises from running up the court, to jumping at the rim, to shuffling your feet.

2. Go golfing. A lot of people think golf is an easy sport for fat guys. Sure, swinging a thin stick at a little ball seems easy, but when you actually get out and play 18 holes on a real course you’ll realize swinging and putting isn’t the hard part… the walking is! Getting in 18 holes is a great way to get in some exercise without even realizing. You walk a lot further on a golf course than you probably would on a treadmill anyway.

3. Chase your kids. Have kids? They could use exercise too! Go in the backyard and chase them around, play kickball, play soccer, play hide and go seek… anything that requires movement basically. Don’t have a backyard? Go to a park! Don’t have kids? Chase your dog! The point here is to not sit on your butt all day and burn off a few calories.

4. Go for a swim. Have a pool? Know someone who does? Swimming is one of the best exercises for you, you burn tons of calories but don’t doesn’t put a lot of stress and strain on your joints. Are you limited exercising because of back or neck pain? Swimming is probably your answer… look in to it!

My point here is that exercise doesn’t have to be boring… you can do things that are fun and still burn calories and eventually lose weight. You would be amazed how many pounds you can shed just by being active and doing things that you like.
